In 2004, Pumpkin House for Children USA, Inc., was established as a nonprofit corporation in the state of Georgia. The corporation has created bylaws, chosen a board of directors, and received for 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service so that contributions are tax-deductible.
Pumpkin House USA has assisted several India-based organizations that are serving children, including:
- Technical assistance, advice and regular financial support to Pumpkin House India, a trust that has established a small home near Meherabad, India, with approximately 20 children in residence;
- A small grant designated for medical care to BSSK Pune, an orphanage in Pune that is home for approximately 120 children;
- A small grant designated for a computer, a refrigerator, medicine, and food to Snehalaya, an Ahmednagar orphanage serving children born in the city's brothels.
Pumpkin House USA is continuing to look for opportunities to assist Indian groups serving children in the Pune and Ahmednagar areas.
